The excursion will start and finish in Wroclaw, capital town of the Lower Silesia region in the south-western part of Poland.
The first two days
we will spend on the Silesian Lowland visiting sites with soils
developed on glacial materials (cover sands on till, deep
glacio-fluvial sands etc.) and on eolian silt - loess (Trzebnica
Hills). The third day we will travel south from Wroclaw, through the
isolated Mt. Sleza ("The Silesian Olympus") to the Sudety
Mountains, at the border to the Czech Republic. An all-day walking tour on
Friday will start on the summit of the Karkonosze
Mountains main ridge (Polish-Czech Bilateral Biosphere Reserve) and end in Karpacz
at the foothills. Saturday we spend on presentations and
discussions in Karpacz, and late afternoon we will travel back to
Wroclaw. |
